News Release: Lumeris to Present at Institute of Medicine, Health and Human Services Conference

Invited to Demonstrate How Its Software Improves the Quality, Lowers the Cost of Health Care

ST. LOUIS — June 09, 2011 — Lumeris, an expert in using software and services to enable more accountable health care, today announced its invitation to present at the upcoming Health Data Initiative Forum on the campus of the National Institutes of Health. The company joins a handful of other health care innovators invited to participate in the second annual gathering on June 9.

Co-hosted by the Institute of Medicine and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the Health Data Initiative Forum is an event to accelerate momentum for the public use of data and innovation to improve health and support more informed decision-making by patients, health care systems and community officials. The event will include a number of fast-paced demonstrations of a range of tools and applications developed using health data, in addition to a series of discussion sessions and a data and applications exposition.

At the forum, executives from Lumeris will demonstrate how recently released government data are incorporated into the medical management workflows of its popular Accountable Delivery System Platform (ADSP)®, supporting the best possible clinical and financial outcomes for patients.

The ADSP allows health plans, hospitals and medical groups to find and act on previously unknown or unappreciated opportunities to improve the quality and lower the cost of health care.

“The platform’s unique functionality allows its users to see the entire picture of a patient or member’s care, presenting and supporting meaningful opportunities for improved collaboration and overall accountability,” said Joel Andersen, chief marketing officer of Lumeris. “At the Health Data Initiative Forum, we will showcase how incorporating government health data into this software lends additional context to the actionable, evidence-based clinical and financial intelligence presented to users.”

Lumeris executives will also be on hand to show forum attendees the latest and most impressive example of delivering critical clinical and financial information at the point of thought, with seamless integration between the ADSP and the company’s award-winning electronic medical record (EMR) application. Via the EMR, actionable quality considerations identified by the ADSP are passed directly to physicians at the point of care.

“The platform can integrate with a variety of EMR systems to deliver important intelligence to physicians at the point of thought, but we’re particularly proud of the capabilities of our integrated EMR solution,” Andersen said. “We know through experience that presenting this information to physicians at the time they see a patient, directly within their office workflow, is an effective way to support higher quality health care.”

Lumeris is scheduled to present at approximately 10:45 a.m. Eastern, during the morning plenary session. The forum can be viewed live online at http://www.hhs.gov/live starting at 9 a.m. Eastern. The hashtag to follow on Twitter is #healthapps.
