Healthcare organizations collaborate to deliver high quality, affordable care to more St. Louis area Medicare beneficiaries
ST. LOUIS (Oct. 31, 2022) — Essence Healthcare (Essence), a Lumeris owned and operated health plan, announced its expansion into four new counties of Lincoln, Franklin, Crawford, and Warren for the 2023 plan year. This addition allows eligibility to an Essence plan to approximately 50,000 beneficiaries in this area.
“These four counties are all key as we work together to bring our affordable, high-quality care to Seniors in our greater St Louis-area community,” said Umar Farooq, President of Essence. “The timing for our expansion was ideal with the network additions we’ve been implementing over the last two years.”
Every year, Medicare evaluates plans based on a 5-star rating system. Essence’s plan is among a short list of plans nationwide awarded Medicare’s highest overall plan rating of 5 out of 5 stars for 2022. The plan was also once again awarded “Best Medicare Advantage plan” in Missouri for 2022 by U.S. News & World Report.
During the 2022 Medicare Annual Enrollment Period, Oct. 15 through Dec. 7, Medicare beneficiaries can change their coverage for the coming year, including the opportunity to enroll in a $0 monthly premium plan from Essence Healthcare.
“We’ve heard from beneficiaries and our broker community alike that there is a need for Essence in these counties” said Suzanne Grossman, VP of Marketing of Essence. “We are excited to have the ability to offer plans in this expanded area, and ultimately provide seniors with a better healthcare experience.”
