Lakshmi Halasyamani, MD, is the Chief Clinical Officer for Endeavor Health and oversees system clinical performance across the continuum including hospitals, practices and population health. She is also an Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine at the Pritzker School of Medicine, University of Chicago. She promotes evidence-based medical care by guiding and overseeing clinical improvement initiatives that advance outcomes, experience and equity. She leads the system’s Health Equity Strategy to address disparities in care access and outcomes. Working directly with physician and other clinical leaders to improve the patient experience, she brings a collaborative and data and information-focused approach to advance clinical care delivery and positively impact our patients, team members and communities.
In 2023, under Dr. Halasyamani’s leadership, Endeavor Health developed a system-wide improvement structure that engaged subject matter experts across the system and resulted in improvement in key clinical, safety and experience metrics. While other organizations noted decline in key acute care indicators, Endeavor Health continued to advance its clinical performance and, in particular, its patient safety performance across its hospitals. Through system-wide implementation of the Vizient Clinical Database, the hospitals within Endeavor Health have advanced their performance nationally. Dr. Halasyamani’s leadership has led to six of nine Endeavor Health hospitals earning the coveted five-star (highest) rating from the U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, recognizing the high-quality care provided by clinical teams within Endeavor Health.
With her leadership, Endeavor Health entities are recognized among the leading Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs) in the country by the Medicare Shared Savings Program and are the leading ACOs within the Chicago area, generating value for patients and participating providers. This positive track record has helped to prepare the organization to advance its value-based care strategy with innovative external partnerships. In addition, bringing the individual Independent Physician Associations across the system into a single Clinically Integrated Network, Endeavor Health is poised to manage more than 400,000 value-based lives across a range of risk-based arrangements.
Dr. Halasyamani joined NorthShore University Health System in 2016 and has previously served as Chief Quality and Transformation Officer and Chief Medical Officer. Prior to NorthShore, she held a range of physician executive roles.
